I started the first day of this year on a long drive to I didn't know where at the time. I just knew I needed some space to let my mind go to wherever it needed to to take on this year. I took the family and we started driving south. After driving for 14-hours straight we ended up in California. While riding through hills I saw a flash of red and instantly knew that's what I had been searching for during my drive. I was going to take the year in red both in color and intensity.
I got an email while driving that a musesum in New York wanted me to make two pieces and have it shipped to them 6-days. We headed back up, I got the work done and out the door ahead of schedule. This year, has been one long wave. I've shown work in New York, Oregon, Cali and throughout the PNW. I've experimented in new materials and have created multiple new bodies of work. I've been fortunate to have been written about by my old school, newspaper back home an art publication and I've been selected to create a few permanent public art projects (more to come on that). I teamed up with a national ice-cream brand and designed a carton that's in Walmart and Albertson's around the nation and I'm launching a $3k grant funded entirely by me.
Everything that happened this year brought me to this moment. Anything Is Anything is my greatest showing of work yet. I've work my ass off non-stop and I couldn't be happier with how this collection of work came together.
Come down to Alma Mater in Tacoma and check it out in person.
